Backed by decades of research.
Regular sauna use has the strongest evidence base of any lifestyle intervention short of exercise. Here's what the science says.
Recovery
Contrast therapy reduces muscle soreness 40% and cuts recovery time between sessions for Alaska athletes.
Longevity
Regular sauna use 4–7x/week is associated with 40% lower cardiovascular disease risk. Finnish research, 20-year study.
Sleep
Evening sauna increases slow-wave deep sleep 20–30%. The temperature drop after sauna triggers faster sleep onset.

"Five months in and we use it every single morning. Survived our first -22°F snap without a hiccup. The install crew measured twice and finished in one day."
"I needed a sauna I could put up on a remote lot with no electrical. Wood-fired barrel showed up on a flatbed, my brother and I had it together in a weekend."
"I plunge every morning before clinic. Water stays at 42°F year-round in our unheated garage. The chiller has not faltered through two Southeast winters."
"Three generations have been through this sauna in the year we've owned it. The covered porch makes the plunge transition easy even at -30°F."
Questions we get a lot.
How much does a sauna cost in Alaska?
Entry-level outdoor barrel saunas start in the low five figures. Premium indoor saunas (Tylö, Finnleo Centurion) are mid five-figure. Custom-cut interiors are quoted by room dimensions. All pricing includes Alaska freight — we quote equipment, delivery, and install as one transparent number.
Can a sauna handle Alaska winters?
Yes — with the right equipment and install. We only carry models we've commissioned and operated through Alaskan winters ourselves. Key factors: thermal envelope (insulation), heater size (we upsize for cold climates), and wood species. We don't sell saunas that haven't been tested in real Alaskan conditions.
Do you deliver outside of Anchorage?
Yes, statewide. Road system (Fairbanks, Mat-Su, Kenai Peninsula, Homer): standard freight. Southeast Alaska (Juneau, Sitka, Ketchikan): barge. Bush Alaska (Bethel, Nome, Kodiak, Aleutians): barge or air freight. We coordinate all of it and quote logistics transparently.
What electrical does a sauna need?
Most electric saunas require a dedicated 240V/30–40A circuit (similar to an electric dryer). Our quote includes a recommendation for a licensed electrician in your area. Wood-fired saunas require no electrical at all — ideal for off-grid or cabin properties.
How long does a sauna take to install?
Most indoor installations are completed in one day by our crew. Outdoor barrel saunas are typically a half-day install. Custom-cut interiors may require 1–2 days depending on room complexity. We schedule electrical commissioning within 48 hours of mechanical install.
What is the difference between infrared and traditional sauna?
Traditional (Finnish) saunas heat the air to 160–190°F and produce steam (löyly). Infrared saunas heat the body directly at lower ambient temperatures (120–140°F). Traditional delivers a more intense, sweat-heavy experience. Infrared is gentler, more accessible for beginners, and uses less power. Our InfraSauna offers both modes.
