Western Alaska

Saunas in Nome, Alaska.

Nome's sub-Arctic climate and lack of road access require flat-pack shipping and simple, bulletproof construction. We coordinate summer barge freight to Nome and supply saunas that can be built with basic tools on tundra-stable pads.

Alaska climate note

Nome sees extreme cold (-30°F), high winds, and permafrost soils. Foundations must float on gravel pads or insulated cribbing to prevent shifting.

Building on Nome's shifting tundra

You cannot pour concrete foundations in Nome. We supply timber cribbing templates that float on a gravel bed, allowing your sauna to remain stable even during spring frost-thaw cycles.

High-output wood-fired solutions

When electric rates are high and grid capacity is limited, wood-fired is the absolute best option for Nome. Our Kuuma and Harvia stove packages heat up fast even in sub-zero winds.

Delivery

Shipped via seasonal marine barge from Seattle or Anchorage. Orders must be finalized by April for summer delivery.
