Sauna Wood Species — Cedar vs Spruce vs Aspen
Different woods handle heat and moisture differently. We break down the pros and cons of Western Red Cedar, Nordic Spruce, and Thermo-treated Aspen.
Western Red Cedar (The outdoor standard)
Naturally rich in decay-preventing oils, Cedar does not rot or warp under moisture. It features low thermal conductivity, meaning it stays comfortable to sit on at 180°F.
Thermo-treated Aspen (The modern clean look)
Thermal processing bakes wood at high heat, removing all sugars and moisture. This makes the wood completely warp-free and gives it a beautiful, caramel-brown tone with zero resin.
