Sauna Ventilation in Sub-Zero Climates
Sauna requires oxygen exchange, but bringing -20°F air directly inside can create cold drafts. Here is how to configure a balanced ventilation loop for northern climates.
The under-heater intake strategy
By positioning the fresh air intake directly beneath the electric or wood heater, incoming arctic air is immediately heated as it rises, preventing cold drafts on the floor.
Mechanical draft induction
Tight modern home additions require mechanical exhaust. We install low-sone, cold-rated inline fans that slowly draw stale air out from beneath the benches, keeping airflow active.
