Top 10 DIY Sauna Building Mistakes to Avoid
Building a sauna is different from framing a standard room. We detail the most common errors DIYers make and how to avoid them.
Mistake 1: Undersized heater wire
Electric heaters pull massive, continuous amperage. Never run standard residential gauge wire. Always consult our spec chart and run code-compliant conduit and cold-rated copper conductors.
Mistake 2: Leaving out the air gap
Nailing cedar boards directly over a foil vapor barrier traps moisture behind the wood, leading to mold. You must install 1x2 furring strips to create a 3/4-inch drying gap.
