Sauna Specifications & CAD Guide for Architects
Designing a custom home with a sauna requires correct rough-in dimensions, ventilation paths, and electrical conduit sizing. Here is our planning guide.
Framing and ceiling heights
Sauna ceilings should not exceed 7 feet. Higher ceilings trap heat at the top, leaving the benches cold. We detail standard 2x4 framing, insulation, and air gap clearances.
Drainage and flooring options
While residential saunas are dry, washing down benches requires drainage. We specify concrete or tile sloped floors with central drains located under the benches.
